Recently, Raysolve announced the first demonstration of 0.39-inch single-chip full-color Micro-LED micro-display, which had made a breakthrough in the process of product standardization. This chip is an important milestone in single-chip full-color Micro-LED technology from concept to product, which will bring revolutionary breakthrough for the next generation of consumer-level AR glasses.
As we all know, the realization of full-color display on single chip is one of the main bottlenecks restricting the application of Micro-LED.
Through the QD color conversion technology, Raysolve realizes a high-resolution and highly efficient color conversion layer on blue GaN Micro-LED arrays by standard lithography process. The blue light is converted into red and green by the QDs color conversion layer, so as to realize full-color display on a single chip. Moreover, light blocking structure is applied to suppress the light crosstalk among neighboring pixels, thus higher contrast and color saturation are obtained. In the meantime, the photolithographic QDs technology can effectively solve the problem of the light efficiency and brightness of the original red light, so that the overall brightness of the chip has a qualitative improvement.
The blue light absorption efficiency is the most critical index for QD color conversion technology. Low absorption efficiency of blue light will affect the color purity. Based on the conventional layer preparation conditions, Raysolve’s proprietary full-color Micro-LED micro-display technology greatly improves the blue light absorption efficiency and color stability through optical design, material modification and process optimization, and realizes the QDs color conversion layer with high conversion efficiency, lower mass ratio and thinner thickness. In addition, the technology is semiconductor process compatible, which enables high-yield mass-production.
The team announced the world’s first single-chip full-color Micro-LED micro-display in Silicon Valley in 2019, which was the first to achieve a breakthrough in the field of full-color micro-LED micro-display technology. The 0.39-inch chip’s full-color process will also be applied to upcoming standardized products.
