Suzhou Vice Mayor Liu Bo Visits HKUST, Raysolve Showcases Innovations, Paving the Way for New Chapter in Tech Collaboration

On February 12, 2025, Suzhou Vice Mayor Liu Bo led a delegation to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), accompanied by Zhang Tingxiu, Deputy Director of the Suzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Bai Xinyu, Deputy Director of the Suzhou Industrial Park Investment Promotion Bureau. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Tim Cheng, Vice President for Research and Development, and Professor Kei May Lau, Research Professor of the Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas Division at HKUST. The visit focused on exploring HKUST’s cutting-edge research and technology commercialization, laying the groundwork for future collaboration.

During the visit, Vice Mayor Liu and his delegation toured HKUST’s Photonics Technology Center Laboratory and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Displays and Optoelectronics Technologies. Professor Kei May Lau, a core founding member of Raysolve, shared insights into the lab’s groundbreaking advancements in optoelectronic device development, highlighting the team’s innovative spirit and technical expertise.

HKUST is the birthplace of Raysolve’s founding team, with its founder and CEO, Dr. Eidde Chong, being a distinguished studet of Professor Lau. Building on HKUST’s research legacy, Raysolve has emerged as a leader in Micro-LED micro-display technology. During the visit, Raysolve showcased its latest product, the PowerMatch® 1 full-color Micro-LED micro-display, along with a prototype AR glasses powered by this product.

The PowerMatch® 1 leverages Raysolve’s proprietary quantum dot photolithography technology, combining the high luminous efficiency of quantum dots with the precision of photolithography to deliver an efficient mass-production solution for full-color Micro-LED microdisplays. This innovation underscores Raysolve’s strength in driving technological advancements and industrial applications.

Vice Mayor Liu commended the PowerMatch® 1 series, noting its potential to redefine the AR glasses industry and accelerate Suzhou’s transformation into a global tech hub. He emphasized that Raysolve’s innovations align with Suzhou’s strategic focus on technology-driven growth, positioning the city to lead in global tech competition. Vice Mayor Liu expressed strong confidence in Raysolve’s future, encouraging the company to continue pushing boundaries and contributing to Suzhou’s technological progress.

This visit marked a significant step in strengthening ties between Suzhou and HKUST. Moving forward, the two parties will deepen collaboration to advance technology commercialization and application, further solidifying Suzhou’s position as a global innovation leader.
